Salvatore Passarelli Jr., age 36, of Bay Shore, was charged on Wednesday, March 6 with possession of child pornography.
Passarelli was arrested after Suffolk County Police received a tip from the New York State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Suffolk County Police Digital Forensics Unit detectives served warrants on Passarelli, a Level 1 sex offender, and seized several electronic devices that contained images of child pornography, the department said.
Multiple unregistered screennames and internet identifiers were also located.
Passarelli was charged with:
- Promoting a sexual performance by a child
- Possessing a sexual performance by a child,
- Two counts of sex offender registry violations, all felonies.
He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday, March 7.
